Perhaps it was because I am not that much used to a wild-life park concept, where you face the intact nature at it's purest (or almost purest); but to me that was a breathtaking experience. We took a hike to a viewpoint overlooking the ocean...More

At either the boat launch or the park you can walk the shore or the trails along the top. This is a nice place to hear the ocean. There is a fee to park if you do not have a pass.

Gorgeous waterfront picnic spots, rocky or sandy. If you've had enough ocean time, simply head out and cross Chuckanaut Drive to hit up some trails in the hills.

Beautiful area not to far from Seattle. Lots of hikes. Nice lakes and views. We went to Fragrance Lake. Relatively east trail. You can swim in the lake if you want.

From the fresh water lake to the playground or hiking trails, bring a lunch or supper picnic basket for a wonderful day at the park.

We went here and sat out and sun bathed on the rocks. It's such a beautiful place. Lots of trails to walk on and places to have a picnic. There's even a restroom.

Larrabee State Park is a great park. It has a beach if you like the water and miles of hiking trails if you like the woods. The campground is a little small but the facilities are decent.

No, I wouldn't be afraid. Cougars and bears are usually scared off by dog's barking.
