Moved to Chewelah for several reasons from Juneau, AK. There are 4 distinct seasons, the people are helpful and friendly, the golf course (bought a house there) and 49 Degrees North. Have been skiing all my life and for a lot of that time I've been a competitive racer. Many years ago, they hosted a couple of semi-pro races I... More

Fun place to ski. Family friendly, affordable, ski terrain well developed. Grooming could be better at times.

The terrain at this resort is amazing and is good for all levels. We found bits of untouched powder right on the main slope. The thing that lets it down is the lift system. The lifts are all very old and are 2 seat chairs with fixed grip. There are no safety bars which in itself is pretty scary. At... More

We just returned from a 3 day trip to 49 Degrees North over new years and had a great time with the family (including a 20 year old snowboarded and skiers ages 8 and 9)! It felt like we were the only ones on the slopes most of the time which was great for the younger kids that took their... More

This family resort offers every thing from beginner slopes to tight tree skiing with some steeps (if you know where to look). If you love the woods, it doesn't seem to get much better than this. Almost never a lift line (except on food drive night skiing). You can ski your legs off here. No express chair yet, but 1... More

Being a Texas and loving to ski, I love 49 Degrees North's terrain that is for all level skiers. Such a wonderful mountain!

Probably one of the lowest number of skier per acre ratios in the U.S. (2,300 acres) That means, no lines, private slopes, fast skiing, untouched glades and non burned out/happy employees to serve you. Reasonable costs all around, bargain season passes. A classic family/brown bag resort where powder lasts for days. Good eats & brews is you want them. Head... More

We ski 49 every time we're back visiting family. This year the snow was disappointing, but the resort remained a great place to visit. We were there shortly before Christmas with a limited number of runs opened, but they had done a good job grooming what snow there was. It was an atypical Christmas ski day with very few people... Even though the ski area wasn't open yet, it is a very beautiful place right in the forest with a great view of the whole area!

49 North is a mid-sized winter resort just outside of the small town of Chewelah, Washington. It is not well known outside of the eastern Washington area but is one of the largest ski resorts in the state (ski-able acreage). It has wonderful snow, short lift lines, a great variety of runs, and the best powder snow imaginable. The area... More
