We love the rapids trail hike. It's doable for almost the whole family. Very scenic, largely level terrain. The kids love the suspension bridge across the river, and climbing in The Big Cedar Tree.

The Staircase area is awesome. We went in September. The day was nice partly cloudy weather, and the hike was an easy 3 in 3 back. Lots of creek views and a cool bridge. We hiked to 4 stream and next time will go even...More

Great trail for people of all ages. The gravel road in the national forest is a bit hard on a vehicle that does not have AWD.

This is an easy hike and well worth the while of driving about 30 minutes, 10 of which will be on a gravel road. There is plenty of parking and the fact that it is not as easily accessible as other parts of the park,...More

The drive can be a bit rough passing Lake Cushman. Roads are narrow. Lots of youth partying along the cliffs and roads. But once you get past the nonsense, the hike at Staircase is awesome! You can do a short 1 mile, 2.5 mile or...More

Beautiful drive out and a spectacular area to visit. My kids (12 -24) did the 2 mile hike while I stayed back with my 85 yo mom. We did part of the Shady Lane Trail that runs along the river. It is very flat and...More

This hike is beautiful because you're adjacent to a river for most of the hike. The Majestic trees offer such a treasure as you explore through the Olympic National Forest. I like to bring a walking stick due to the nature of the stairs leading...More

Easy hike for most anyone. Beautiful views of river , and fabulous rainforest type foliage. The route crosses a sturdy but narrow suspension bridge over river . If you are not afraid of heights then this is one of many high points ( pun intended)...More
