A great hike to the lighthouses. The museum was very interesting about the Lewis and Clark story. Buy your park pass either for the day or the year at kiosk. The Old WW 1 and WW 2 military pill boxes were interesting.

The park itself is a great jumping off point for all Columbia river adventures. The hikes have a great mix of forest and ocean views. I have been many times and have seen wildlife such as deer every time

This is an incredibly beautiful place to ponder the majesty of the ocean and the peacefulness of the forest. It was kind of cool and drizzly the day we explored it, but that did not detract from our pleasure. The most exciting thing that happened...More

Beautiful state park in Washington outside the small fishing village of Ilwaco home to two lighthouses on this NW coast.. You won't be disappointed.

The north head light house is currently under construction but the iconic black and white lighthouse is not. There is a good view from the lewis and clark center, just a short trail to get up there. You have to pay to park though, I...More

There is a nice paved road from the Coast Guard station up to the lighthouse, but to get to that, one must hike unpaved paths. There are signs warning you that paths may be muddy from Nov - May. And the day we were there,...More

We are planning on taking a day trip here when driving through the area. Is there parking near the coast where we can see the coast and the lighthouses? Or do you have to hike to see them?

Yes, the north side lighthouse is a short walk (just a few minutes) on a paved gently sloping footpath. No steps as far as I recall. You can see part of the coastal view from the car park, but the views from the path to the... More
