We visited the forest recently and found it to be very average. The park is very green and well maintained, however most of the region is like that.

We live closely, so have hiked these trails many times. There are so many that you never get bored. Beautiful dense and tall trees, a waterfall, the deserted coal mines, a lot of elevation gain. There are maps, typically, at the front entrance. On busy...More

Great hiking trails to choose from. We hiked the shy bear which was 6 miles and took 2 hours. My only complaint is that the porta potty's were discussing.

It is very hilly and steep in some places, but the choices and options for runners and hikers are excellent. Also has good signs and markings to help all visitors.

I'm a bit biased because my house practically backs onto the park, but I spend so much time in here running and hiking the trails. They are very well maintained, trees get moved very quickly if they come down in a storm, trails get graded...More

Miles of trails, some leading to waterfalls, missile silos, and historic mining relics. Some animal sightings. Beautiful, easy trails. You'll often find small groups of happy people and their dogs in the parking lot, with lots of cars, on a beautiful day. Get there early....More

We went walking here as tourists. We downloaded a map onto our smart phone and used that and the trail signs to navigate. It was easy to find our way around. We walked about 4 miles and did a circular route. The forest is old...More
