We may not be the best judges of the museum because we only had about 20 minutes before the closed. The information about the history of the capital building was very interesting. We were there on the anniversary of Mt St Helen's erruption so it was interesting to see the photos and information on the event. I guess I would... More

The Capital Museum is housed in the former Lord Mansion, which is a beautifull building, but after seeing the displays on the history of the Capitol, there was little else to hold our attention. It's only $2 to get in, a little hard to find, we actually passed it by once. But if you're touring Olympia, you should check it... More

The topic listed is the WA State Capital Museum and carriage house, which is several blocks from the Rotunda and legislative buildings in the historic South Capitol Neighborhood. It is a Spanish Colonial villa surrounded by lush lawns and evergreen trees - one of Olympia's few genuine mansions, owned originally by CJ and Elizabeth Lord. They were both prominent in... More

The State Capital Museum and Outreach Center is located in the historic Lord Mansion, seven blocks south of the capitol campus (Capitol Building) in Olympia. The museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history and culture of Washington and features two floors of exhibits. Open Saturdays. Costs $2 or less. Worth the visit if only to check out the... More

Great old mansion in Olympia - Not always open. Tacoma has the main museum filled with lots of interesting displays about Washington's fascinating history.

A decent though small museum. When added to a free tour of the capital building it's a great outing to teach kids about history and the legislative process.
