The cemetery is the burial site for nearly 80 members of George Washington's family.

I went on my own, no guide or brochure. The cemetery located in central Charles Town, WV was empty the day I visited...quiet and peaceful. Wondering through, I found bits of history were on every tombstone, several with "Washington" chiseled into them. Worth a visit...More

If your in to history and reading old grave stones this is the place to go. Some of the stones will give you a breef history of the people that came before us.

Most interesting to wander around and ponder the lives of pre-20th century people buried here. A huge number of George Washington's relatives lie in this cemetery. Though I haven't seen it, I believe a comprehensive listing of all burials has been made.

Geocaching brought me to this restful spot. Lots of history laid out before me. The lawns were well maintained and the headstones were made of excellent quality stone, so they're very readable.

Walked around this cemetery just to see who was buried here. It was on the Charles Town Ghost Tour as well and is a scary place to be at night

Historically and architecturally this church and graveyard was one of the reasons we moved to the neighborhood. It is old-world and charming. A fabulous church-yard rarely seen on this scale in the US.

This is a graveyard, not a cemetery (there is a difference,) and it is fabulous! Read up a little on the history of grave art in the Victorian era and make this stop; you will be amazed at what you learn. Some of the stones...More

We didn't know about this cemetery till we were at the lot where John Brown was hung and a gentleman told us about it. Visited with a lady from the church who said there was over 75 descendants of George Washington. Apparently his brother Charles...More
