For more than 30 years, Mountain Stage with Larry Groce has been the home of live music on public radio. Produced in West Virginia and distributed by NPR, each two hour episode of Mountain Stage can be heard every week on more than 150 stations across America, and around the world via NPR Music and iTunes. Recorded in front of a live audience, Mountain Stage typically features four or five artists, with each artist given roughly the same amount of time to perform, give or take five to ten minutes, unless otherwise stated.

The show is recorded live to two track, with as few edits as possible. Mountain Stage features performances from seasoned legends and emerging stars in genres ranging from folk, blues, and country; to indie rock, synth pop, world music, alternative, and beyond.

So it was anniversary night for my wife and I. Trying to find something inexpensive (xmas is coming up!), semi close, and something we had never done before. So this popped up. We had enjoyed listening to the radio show ever so often so I went online and bought tickets. Heck, only $20 each. Free parking. Get there kinda early.... More

What a great music show! Tickets are $20-25 for a 2.5 hour show of 5-6 performers. This is the place to be for a sample of Appalachia.

I have listened to Mountain Stage on NPR radio for many years, and enjoyed it. Finally, my wife and I went to see a live performance. I had never heard of any of the singers/bands before, so I was not sure how much I would enjoy the evening. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. There were five... More

Mountain Stage live performances happen about 2 Sunday nights per month in Charleston WV. The mix of 4 or 5 musical groups offer lots of variety in an up close and personal setting. The show records and is heard around the world on Public Radio. THIS is a must do in WV.... Great production, great musicians who play and sing... More

Check their web site for a schedule. They have 4 - 6 different singers each night . Some are great some are not LOL We always have a good time here. Its a nice smaller theater but not too small. All seats are good. its a better deal if you get your tickets early.

Up close & personal with Larry Groce & the performers of the night, make this venue a rememberal experience. Small theater, small price, ($15... More

The latest Mountain Stage was like a Sunday at Church. Every performer started or ended with Christian praise, even a jab at Buddhism from two performers. I came for music, not to be "saved". Mix it up a bit please.
