Opened in the summer of 2003, the Clay Center strives to present a variety of arts and sciences all under one roof. The Avampato Discovery Museum is two floors of fascinating interactive science exhibits, while the ElectricSky™ Theater features planetarium shows. In addition there are a large performance hall and a small black-box theater, an art museum, a fun museum shop, and a cafe. There's something interesting scheduled virtually every night here!

Travis Tritt

Travis put on a wonderful acoustic performance. Clay Center has very comfortable seats. Not a bad seat in the whole place. Would definitely go there again.

Brand new exhibits on lower level. Kids seem automatically drawn to the twisting three story climbing sculpture. The new our town exhibit is a hands on interactive exhibit with stores, clinics, fire and police vehicles, a government building and a bank. Our young grandchildren loved it. The Juliet Art Museum is on the 2nd floor. At present an interesting exhibit... More

Excellent intimate concert/performance venue. I have only attended for concerts, however, there are daily interactive activities that are excellent for children and people of all ages.

You will think you are in a major metropolitan city, when you step inside the Clay Center to see a concert, performance or to visit the science center. The Clay center is so modern and beautiful. Kids love the science center, and the displays are kept up to date and do change from time to time. The concert auditorium is... More

I am originally from Charleston and still have family there. We always make a visit to the Clay Center when we're in town. My 4 year old son loves it there! Our recent visit over Christmas was his favorite yet. The addition of the little town exhibit is perfect! We spent the majority of our time in there and only... More

We were meeting family in Charleston for a gymnastics event and had a day to explore. The exhibits were amazing and engaged everyone in our family from the 2 year old to the 75 year old! Plan on a couple of hours at least to see everything. Restrooms were clean, the food at the cafe was affordable and tasty. Definitely... More

We were lucky enough to get a preview of the Clay Center's new attraction My Town. It is simply amazing & top-notch. There is so much for the kids to do we didn't even make it to all the "businesses". The kids had a blast playing on the fire truck (they can even put out a fire in a building),... More

Went to an afternoon matinee of the movie showing of The Wizard of Oz with the WV Symphony playing all the music. Magical! Chillbumps as soon as the music started. Great idea! Maybe Sound of Music or Music Man next time?! :) As for the Clay Center itself, lots to see and do before any performance. Lots of "hands on"... More

Several of the exhibits were under construction while we were there but the staff was friendly. Access from the parking lot is less than pleasant.
