We biked through the Wildlife Management Area and enjoyed the area very much. It was nice seeing the Blackwater River at different points. We didn’t see many people, so may be suitable for those seeking solace.

We like that Little Canaan Wildlife Management Area offers several SR32 entrances.

There is some excellent hiking, and autumn visit views.

Be certain to visit the Center in Canaan Valley as well.

We recommend a visit.

So many things to learn and enjoy. The exhibits were well done and presented. The garden was informative and easy for seniors to enjoy. It was not easy to locate the boardwalk but well worth the effort.

This wildlife management area is part of the The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Tucker County, West Virginia.

There are no fees required/requested for visiting and for hiking.

Much less dramatic than the Dolly Sods area, but highly accessible.

We recommend.

We did the trail at the most northern point. It's a loop. There were blueberries and blackberries so plentiful that it was unbelievable! Very tasty and fun. We saw tracks, but didn't see any big wildlife. The terrain wasn't difficult, but it was muddy in spots. We just walked around the rough spots.

Very clean, nice place to walk. Took the dog, he loved it too. Not very busy, as we didn't see other hikers.

My boyfriend and I were super excited to stay at the Little Canaan WMA campgrounds for an overnight camping trip. We love Davis and stumbled across the campsites in previous travels. We stopped at the visitor center in town and were told the campsites were first come, first serve, therefore no reservations were required. We were also told there was no fee (we were excited to hear that!) and the staff politely reminded us to pick up trash and clean up when we were done. They mentioned something about DNR getting upset about the amount of trash left behind. After a long day of traveling to get there, we were really disappointed to find the utter disgustingness of the campgrounds. There were piles of trash left at every campsite that was available, and the one site that we really loved was awful. There were piles of dirty toilet paper and waste that were left behind from the previous group. We ended up leaving because it was so awful. It's so sad to see such a beautiful place go to waste because others don't want to take care of it. One thing to note is that it was after a busy holiday weekend, so we expected a bit of trash. However, the amount of trash and human waste was completely ridiculous and disrespectful. I'm hoping DNR takes action to help clean this place up. I would be willing to pay for a spot if it meant it would keep those not willing to take care of the sites away. On the upside, this place has some great hiking areas and the town of Davis is awesome! Definitely give it a try. Maybe the sites will be cleaner on your visit!
