My husband and I have been coming to Peninsula State Park for 21+ years and every time we come we have to do the Eagle Trail. It is rated "difficult", and it is. But even as we have gotten older it is still doable. We are in our young 60's😊. The views from the top of the bluff as well... More

Peninsula Sate Park is amazing - great park with plenty of scenic walking/hiking and biking trails. We visited the second weekend of May and had fantastic weather. It was 70 degrees when we embarked on our Eagle trail hike. The Eagle trail is an expert trail with challenging terrain. It starts high in the bluffs and winds it way down... More

We took on this hike in cooler weather which turned out to be just right. We needed to watch out step with rocks, roots and streams. This also made it interesting to view the water, caves and terrain. We had a light rain just after we finished --- not sure I would want to go if it was wet.

Just a heads up that they close this trail in the winter. I was really disappointed as this was the one trail I most wanted to do. (A lot of other trails are closed in the winter too, unless you're going snowshoeing/skiing so plan better than I did!)

I had no idea where I was heading for. The trail said it was difficult. At first our trek was quite enjoyable. There were some obstacles to overcome, but nothing to sweat about. We reached Lake Michigan without any problems. Now we had to walk nearby the lake and once we saw caves the path became a bit difficult, as... More

We enjoyed the rock cliffs, water views, and forest trail. Even though this trail is rated difficult, we didn't think it was. It does have rocky, uneven sections and some with many tree roots, and compared to other area trails I suppose it's difficult, but there's not elevation gain or anything too strenuous.

While the "Difficult " rating is dismissed by some, it still is about the most strenuous hike you'll find in Door County with some scrambling involved. Lovely views of woods and water, and intriguing cliffs. One strong caveat for neophyte hikers: wear solid shoes, especially hiking boots. The rocks and roots can be tricky and hard to spot in the... Breath taking, and even though it says "difficult" it wasn't too bad. Just allow plenty of time, take your time and soak it all in.

We love this trail - we make sure we hike it every time we're in Door County. It is difficult. Most of the trail is steep in places, and the whole trail is covered in tree roots and rocks, but that makes it even more fun for the kids. The views on both sides are incredible, and there's lots to... More
