This is the home of the American Birkebeiner, & as such it is amazing. It requires a trail pass, & is well maintained. Only downside is there aren't really any good, lengthy ski loops where you can just park, ski, & be done (it's really just A to B out & backs), & as such not great for training for... More

We are fans of the Birkie Trail mainly because of having skied the race 25 times, but this system offers so much more for participants of many sports. Hiking, running, mountain and snow biking .... it is a fantastic resource which is well cared for and sustained by the Birkie Foundation. Thank goodness for far-sighted groups that develop areas like... More

Birkie trail is over 100km of trails and offers world class skiing. It is professionally groomed year round. It has lots of great hills, mostly through wooded terrain. It is very wide, enough for 5-6 pople or so, and has spectacular views. Trails also include hiking, snowshoeing, running, hiking and even fatbike areas. I ski here with my 6 and... More

Skied from Hayward to OO. The trail was in great shape except for a couple of minor dirt spots and one icy downhill. Lots of uphills!

The Birkie Trail is an excellent trail for hiking, especially in the fall of the year when there are no mosquitos and when the leaves are in full color.

Since its inception in 1976, the American Birkebeiner trail continues to serve skiers, hikers and bikers. What a brilliant idea by Birkie founder Tony Wise.
