We had the use of an older pop-up camper, so we decided to give it a go. We reserved the last available campsite with electric. There was a combination water spigot/fountain right on our site, which was nice. There was a nice, hinged grill rack attached to the fire pit which made cooking very easy. There was a modern, clean... More

Just spent 1 night. Campsites very well maintained. Bathrooms clean! Beach closed due to high E. coli levels. Free entertainment Labor Day weekend. Very quiet and beautiful state park. Will be back

We camped here one weekend in July. The campground is clean and well maintained. The trails are grassy - like a mowed lawn. We had a great time with the dog hiking them. Saw a lot of wildlife. An easy trip from the Chicago area.

Decided to enjoy a day at the park since they advertise a model rocket launch at the park, and my son was excited for his first launch. Never being there and living an hour away, we called to get info and make sure the area was not reserved for a larger group. We were told to call back so a... More

We visited the property on 4th of July weekend for three nights on recommendation from a family member who visited many years ago. We were delighted to find the sites are semi-private in that most sites were well separated by trees, high brush, and bushes. Our specific camp site in the Sunrise loop however just happened to be located right... More

We came here for a bit of hiking. There are a lot of trails and a lot of walking. The trails were a bit muddy due to our trip being early in the spring. There is a beach with a playground and boat launch, but a long walk from the campsites. We drove to check that out. We had an... More

I had no idea this place was here, but I'm happy it is! My friends and I were looking for a weekend camping trip without having to drive too far from Chicago. Bong Recreation Area is perfect for small group tent camping. We had enough privacy and more than enough space for our three tents. We went on one of... More

"Bong" is a 4,500 acre property located between Milwaukee and Chicago that not many people know about. Being a Recreation Area, it's much more than a State Park or just a campground. Yes, it does offer 250+ camp sites, and miles and miles of hiking trails, but that's just a start. It has the only purpose-specific model rocket range in... More

After leaving Chain O Lakes State Park in search of a less crowded environment (I like Chain, but if it's busy it can be close quarters in some areas), we drove 25min north to -- suppress juvenile giggle -- Bong. We found friendly staff, wide open prairie vistas, clean facilities, and spacious campsites with dense foliage on either side of... More

Shame on Wisconsin for even offering camping at this buggy cesspit of a park! I have done a TON of camping and this was the WORST I've ever experienced!!! I can't believe we drove all the way from Texas for this! They advertise a swimming beach...doesn't exist! They advertise showers and a 'comfort station'....they are cold!!!! Who in their right...
