A Must Place

By all means, if u r a student of history, this is the place to visit & learn. Outstanding exhibits, & the star of the show, Billy Mitchell, the greatest pilot that ever lived.

Free! small museum upstairs in the airport. Not so "cutting-edge" or interactive: models, uniforms, letters and other artifacts. Covers the history of air traffic, flight, local pilots and the airport. Old school, but the price is right. We often go with my 5-year old to look at the models, which he enjoys. Worth a look.

Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport has a history going back to the 1920s, located on the upper level of the airport terminal, before security, this free museum tells the story of aviation history in Milwaukee. Displays include many models, including an incredibly detailed "Barbie" sized jet cockpit that is simply amazing. Worth a few minutes of your time to check out

My youngest is enthusiastic about air travel lately. This is the perfect free museum to take them to. It has a lot of local history about the airport and the man for whom it is named. Lots of models to look at. Then a good idea is to eat at a table by the window in the brewery and watch... More

This small museum is inside the airport and is packed with items from the early days of flight to space travel. Very detailed models of aircraft. Lots of military and civilian info. Displays appear to change at least occasionally. There is no admission and it would not take long to visit, but you could spend 45 minutes easily if you... More

Fun to look through the exhibits. All have to do with local flight history and history of Mitchell field. Best part is it is free.

An excellent museum for being located in an airport terminal. A surprisingly extensive assortment of interesting artifacts and exhibits. My son and I found it very informative and a great way to pass a little time in the terminal.

A very nice museum before security. Definitely stop in if you have some time to see some great exhibits on aviation.

This is inside the terminal at MKE. Since I'm a history buff, I had to stop. It gives information about the airport's namesake, General Billy Mitchell, a Milwaukee native. Also has info about other Milwaukee and Wisconsin natives who are famous for aviation to include one of the Apollo astronauts. Has uniform of Mitchell and his medals. Also has mementos... More
