The Third Ward historic district is a vibrant area of Milwaukee, just south of main downtown area, located along the Milwaukee River and east to Lake Michigan. Nicely restored historic buildings house shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries. Great area for unusual gifts, fashions, art and jewelry. Everything from Anthropologie store to upscale Goodwill store, called Retique. Parking can some times... More

We weren't in town long, but stayed in the downtown area nearby. We were able do a little bit of exploring this area, but there are all kinds of shops and restaurants that I would have loved more time to explore and check out future.

Nice warm spring day. We decided to walk around the third ward. We stopped to eat. And stopped for a beer. Most everything looked good and kept up.

At the fish shop inside the Milwaukee Public Market you can get a Lobster Roll for $15.00 that is as good as you can get in New England.

But a great place to visit. So much activity at the fair grounds. A cafe along the river's edge. So many places to eat and unique stores for shopping. Worked and enjoyed the area for four years.

I just love walking down old historic streets and seeing the architecture in the buildings. Many restaurants and bars and shops to suit any need.

Spent some time after dinner, walking through the Historic Third Ward. Alwasy an adventure, with new venues popping up every month. Differnet types of stores outside the realm of mall shoppong. nice restaurants and bars to take a break at as well.

The anchor of the Historic Third Ward is the Milwaukee Public Market. There are several options including a burger, sushi, to a full lobster dinner. There are several other venues to eat, and many boutique shops. Pleasant way to spend a few hours of your visit.

Revitalized south end of downtown Milwaukee just keeps getting better! More shops, restaurants, businesses opening all the time. Kimpton Journeyman Hotel located here which is a great hotel and restaurant. Venture upstairs to the rooftop bar! Some establishments overlook river as well. Great area to walk around. Stop in and go through the marketplace, fun place to eat or shop!

We stayed in the area and walked every where. Many restaurants, shops, coffee houses, and bars. The Public Market is also located here. We will be back in the summer to hopefully have better people watching, flowers, etc.
