Great local trail for a day hike
Oct 2019
The trail is an old railroad track, so no vertical, but a great trail for the family or on a bike. Gravel so not affected by weather.

A beautifully scenic trail
Aug 2019
We actually started on the Hortonville end, biked the entire 20-mile trail to Oshkosh and then back again. Wildlife sightings included sand hill cranes and Canadian geese, one deer. The trail is really well maintained and goes through farms and woods and over water. Surface is largely crushed stone, in some places hard-packed dirt that could turn muddy in a rain but was perfect the day we biked. A couple of nasty holes, but they’re avoidable. Very few changes in elevation, and even those few were gentle slopes. We were out on a Saturday afternoon; other bicyclists and runners and dog- and kid-walkers were out, but the traffic was not at all heavy and everyone is really pleasant. For a beautiful bike ride, you cannot go wrong with this trail.

A day on the trail.

I have traveled the entire trail. I have biked and hiked the trailer. I have taken my dogs and friends dogs on the trail. Dogs love this trail. I have fished along the trail also. I have hiked and biked this trail all through the year. I have been going here for over 20 years. One of my favorite places.

Wiowash Trail starts at Carl Steiger Park, Oshkosh, WI

The Wiowash Trail is what remains of the old railroad track system from Oshkosh to the North, It runs for about 25 or more miles and is very scenic and "Outdoorsey". the track is hard surfaced and easy to ride on a bicycle in the warm weather and to ride a snowmobile or ski in the winter. Bird lovers can find numerous species as well as many different animals. In the fall, the weather is still warm and the color of the trees and bushes is amazing. In the spring, we always found some pussy willow branches with little "kitties" on to take home.

So glad this trail is in my town!

We love the Wiouwash! We hop on parts of it when we're doing short walks around Oshkosh, and it's especially great now they've connected it to the walkway over the Butte des Morts Bridge so we can make a circuit. When we have a bit more time, we like to take our bikes all the way up to the end and back. The trail is well-maintained and makes great use of the former railway bed. We pass through farmland, fields and woods. We see cyclists, runners, walkers, dog owners, and people of all ages using this trail and we feel blessed it's so close to our home.

We like to walk this trail alot.....there is alot to see and 25+ miles off trail. Some areas are wide open farm land and some are small creeks with bridges and cat tails with trees that cover the walk way..leafy ceiling. We always see deer and many birds. we have covered the same 15 miles over and over again....Overall its a great trail.

The Wiowash trail is a nice scenic trail to cycle or hike. It's well maintained and it's well used. Carl Stieger park has benches that you can sit on and enjoy the view of the fox river.

Wonderful ride!

Took a bicycle ride along the lake. Very little traffic. Very scenic. Enjoyed ourselves immensely. Saw wildlife. Easy ride, level grade. Quite safe as the trail and crossing over Highway 41 were engineered very well.

Multiple places to jump on the trail. Great for running, walking or biking. Most of the trail is in open farm land.

Beautiful fall bike ride
Oct 2016 • Couples
I have been on this trail several times. It's beautiful year round with different landscapes of woods, wetlands and prairies. If you ride up to hortonville you can get off the trail and go into town for lunch. Flat, easy ride trail with nature galore to enjoy.
