A Sweet Piece of History in a Small Wisconsin Town

For a minute $2 fee, this little school house is certainly worth a visit. You can receive a 10-15 minute tour about the history and artifacts of the place. Bryan, the host, was... read more

We visited the little white school house and it was really entertaining to see all the history that is stored in that building. We were the only ones there when we visited it. Easy to find and fun to visit.

We were on our way to the winery in Ripon and found this stop on trip advisor. I'm so glad we stopped! While the young lady working the counter on Tuesday morning was pleasant, she didn't say a word other than ask us how many people we had in our party and how much each of our totals were to... More

Fun fact that the birthplace of the GOP is in Ripon, WI. For a $2.00 admission fee there is a brief overview of the history of Ripon and the players that came together to form the party in Ripon. The guide was entertaining and provided a lot of information about the city as well as the historical figures who came... More

Not sure why anyone who wasn't an ardent Republican or was simply passing by would visit this place. We fell upon it quite by accident. I am glad the school house exists and it is very well kept. I am glad I read a little about the reason Republicans formed. BUT...hm. Not a lot going on in there. Interesting little... More

Great little school house and my teens learned something new as did I. $2 fee is reasonable for the tour. Would recommend for a quick stop.

For a minute $2 fee, this little school house is certainly worth a visit. You can receive a 10-15 minute tour about the history and artifacts of the place. Bryan, the host, was well versed in his knowledge of the schoolhouse. It is a quick visit. You learn that there are a few places that call themselves the birthplace of... More

This place was a bit of serendipity for us and we were lucky to have met a very interesting and competent guide passionate about local history. The Little White Schoolhouse built in 1853 is apparently considered the birthplace of the Republican Party. The interior of the schoolhouse consists of many important artifacts, old school furniture and one can find a... More

Recently 12 men were playing golf near Green Lake, WI and took the opportunity to go to Ripon (about 10 minutes away) to visit The Little White School House. We met with the head docent who was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of this place as well as the history of how we got to have the Republican and Democratic... More

Well, we went when closed, but it was interesting enough for us to walk there, just behind the hotel. I guess if you are history buff and interested in the Republican Party is worth detour. We were just there.
