I have been visiting "The Mound" since I attended Dominican University starting in 2001, and it's so refreshing to see that some things do not change. Set into a beautiful hill, surrounded by trees and offering breathtaking vistas of surrounding farms on the horizon, you need to stop by and see for yourself. The chapel is truly unique. Don't leave without several loaves of cinnamon bread and other items baked on the premises and sold in the gift shop.

If you're looking for a different place to visit near Dubuque this location is home to a large community of Dominican sisters. Set in a beautiful, large landscape this convent was once a boarding school. There is also a large church chapel and gift shop where they sell baked goods the Sisters have made. A beautiful location for sightseeing, or... More
