Super cool place to visit, the flat rocks are almost soft as they are so smooth. Beautiful water views plenty of parking and restrooms. Remember do not take any stones off the beach as you risk a fine of $250 this is a unique and...More

It was quite interesting to see the rounded rocks on the beach. Seems the sand granules were quite large.

I have visited Pebble Beach in England and although I thought the beach was quaint, I would loved to have had some time to relax and enjoy it rather than skipping rocks and given warnings not to take the rocks.

For the Island it is a great beach, but overall, not fabulous. Is the mist popular on the island. Worth a visit. Great view.

Make sure to have your water shoes on, the stones hurt without until you get out into the water a good 8' or so. Quiet and fun to skip rocks for the kids. Water is super clear.

This is unlike any other beach I've ever been to but it was really great. Actually maybe more entertaining for the kids. It's within a woodsy setting. The ground is made of only Rocks which is a little uncomfortable for sitting, but it's great for...More

If you're staying on the island then this is a place you can stop, the water is lovely (thanks to Lake Michigan) and its all smooth stones, vs sand or a mix of some kind. Not a beach maybe to lounge on (rocks) or swim...More

If you are one who has been to many beaches or seen many natural places, this is nothing overly spectacular. But if you are tooling around Washington Island for a day or so, stop buy. The public beach is short and blocked on both sides...More

This beach is amazing to see. What makes the beach unique is its lack of sand. The beach and the bottom of the water is made up of rocks smoothed by the water. This also makes the water very clear. Wading and walking on the...More

Absolutely beautiful! Very unique experience to walk along beach made entirely of smooth round/oval stones. We will never forget it and would love to go back!

Schoolhouse beach is a part of Washington Island and can be reached by ferry or a private boat. The rocks on the beach are soft and round like little bread loaves and is one of the few places in the world where the beach is... More

We are south of Green Bay and the colors are just starting to come out on some of the trees. The east skyline was gorgeous last night with a deep blue sky and some of the trees showing color.
This is supposed to be Schoolhouse Beach, WI on Washington Island. The map directs me to a California beach. Any thoughts?

Sure enough, ha, that's a flaw in the Trip Advisor page. Just Google it and you'll find where it is on Washington Island, which is off the northern end of Door County, WI. Note: A ferry ride is required to get out to... More
