Always a great place for fun food and bitters! Fun history and cold beer. I have been a client each year for 42 years and will never miss an updated Bitters Card. It is a must visit Washington Island icon! Have a shot of bitters and a beer chaser!

Came up to escape reality on Super Bowl Weekend. The crew at Nelsen's is always the best. The shot of famous Bitters....not so much. But it's worth the "Ewwwww!" Can't review the food as it was all free, fun and delicious for the big game. Partied hard til Midnight and then collapsed next door at the Bitter End Hotel ($99/night)... More

Nelson's Hall is the oldest continuously operated tavern in Door Co. (thanks to the owner's applying for a pharmacy license in order to sell bitters during prohibition) - Food was average.

Finally joined the Bitters club, after all these years of coming to Door County. What a nice tradition and interesting place. The food is actually well above average. Definitely recommend taking the plunge and joining the club.

Through friends had heard the story of Tim Nelsen and the Bitter's and went to the pub to join the Bitter's Club. The bartender, Maddie, is excellent and explained the history. She loves her job and is a perfect fit for Nelsen's. Downed the shot and received my club certificate. The beer was pretty good too.

So Nelson's Hall is a typical Northern Wisconsin bar/restaurant. The food is good, the service was fine, and there's a back story here about Mr. Nelson. Back in the day, he was a proponent of Angostura Bitters as a health tonic. It's about 90% alcohol, and as far as I know, it's only used to flavor cocktails these days. Bitters... More

The place is set up like a typical Wisconsin supper club /bar. Food was good and service was good. Kids are supplied with crayons to draw on the paper covering tables. Beers on tap were quality. Island burger was good. They use good cheese here. Pictures on the walls were great.

Stopped for dinner, but the rude and not friendly greeting we got from bartender, turned us off, and we left after one drink. Not even sure they noticed we left.
