This monument is situated in Fort Phil Kearny, Story, Wyoming. It is a very remote location and not a lot more than a large open area where the fort once stood and a battle took place. The sign tells the story and we were totally...More

Second time we have stopped there. If you are a history buff or especially like western history it is very well worth the stop. Only takes a few minutes to look over the site.

It does not look like much but I learned a lot when I visited the site. What I thought what a wagon box was and what I actually saw gave me a new appreciation for what the men and women went through.

The setting is very beautiful and the signage is quite helpful. Though there is not the mystery attached to this place as at the Fetterman and Little Big Horn sites, it is still a site not to be missed.

We visited this battlefield in addition to Ft. Phil Kearny and the site of the Fetterman Fight. This battlefield location is some of the prettiest real estate I've ever seen, in addition to being the site of an impressive fight.

The site is marked to show where the wagon boxes were arranged in an oval. There is a monument and a good view of the mountains where the wood cutters were working. I drove several miles on dirt roads to get there, but it was...More
