Great to see these falls, pretty, although touristy. Did a tour and the falls were incorporated in the sights

Rainbow Falls is nice. It is a quick easy walk to viewing. If you want a little more exercise, go up the stairs to get a closer view to the top. The stairs are quite easy too. The best part at the top is the banyan forest. So cool. If you have trouble with stairs, it can be seen from... More

There is indeed a rainbow - at least when we went. Very easy to get to, there are three vantage points to see the falls - the rainbow is usually visible at one of the three depending on the time of day.

This was a last stop before heading to the airport in Hilo. It's fairly easy to find. It's free. Takes about 10 minutes. Please, please do NOT go past the barriers and climb out onto the lava rock. I saw so many people and children balancing on wet, slippery lava rock. People have been killed by falling off the cliff.... More

Rainbow falls is easy to get to and free parking. Add it to your visit of Hilo. Come early and you may see a rainbow. We didn't see a good one the day we were there.

Unfortunately, we were there on a rainy day with a dark sky and the waterfall was just average. We view the waterfall from the bottom and climbed to the top. The walk is easy.

We were here late afternoon and didn't see any rainbows. Disappointed! Maybe try earlier in the day when the sun is higher in the sky.

If you are only going to see one waterfall in Hawaii, this is the one. It's large. It's located right in the middle of Hilo and has a parking lot right next to it. You can walk up to the top of the falls. And it's free. All around a good deal. Access is pretty controlled there are rails and... More

If you're in Hilo take a quick drive up the hill. The falls are right at the car park. The rainbow is viewed beat by walking up to the left towards the fall.
