There were 7 in our group from 3 1/2 to 70 and all very much enjoyed the variety of animals. We watched as volunteers "socialized" many of the parrots out of their cages. It was obvious how much these volunteers enjoy their work at the...More

On the day we arrived it was overcast and rainy. Yet the animals were livey and vibrant. The Bengal tigers were on the move in their enclosure. The peacocks, on the other hand, were left to rome free all around the park. It was a...More

There was a ton to see at this FREE zoo just outside Hilo. We saw White tiger and Bengal tiger as well as a host of other critters. The grounds were immaculate, the staff friendly and the animals looked very well cared for. The tigers...More

Yes, this zoo is small, get plenty of exhibits that looked empty. However, the grip of the other exhibits were AWESOME!! My children all under 5 had so much fun, their playground was very nice, great shade, lots of seats. Overall we had a blast!!

We were amazed at the variety of animals, birds and plants available at this wonderful little zoo. The best part was seeing all of the little children that appear to frequent the zoo alot - they were yelling out the names of the animals as...More

We stopped at the Panaewa Zoo during our most recent trip to the Big Island. While its a smaller zoo, it's free and makes for a great detour. We walked the entire zoo in a little less than an hour and had a great time...More

Pretty sad. Lots of potential and good location; but really nothing to see. We have more critters in our yard every morning. If you see the sign; keep driving. If you stop; we told you so; have a good grin and a nice stroll.

Fond memories from when they had the white tiger here. Watching him eat whole frozen chickens bone and all was scary. This is a great zoo for the kids to see habitat from Hawaii. However miss that tiger!

I would bet not because there are peacocks walking around on the property. Better call to check.

It's not very big. You can probably see everything in an hour.

Aloha - its about a 15 minute drive from the cruise port. You will need a taxi or a rental car. Its near the Macadamia nut factory (farm) as well so you may want to see both while you are out there.
