Beautiful falls in Hilo, Hawaii. It was a big waterfall on our tour of waterfalls and black sand beach.

Great little hike through the park. The flowers and foliage are spectacular and the water falls were flowing!

Amazing with the heavy rains, they roar! Place was clean and beautiful. Bring umbrella, light jacket and good shoes, it maturely rains 300 days a year.

Long walk to falls but worth trip. Only short drive outside of Hilo. $5 dollars for parking in the lot at the start of the trail. Looks wheelchair accessible.

We stopped by here on Thanksgiving day after a helicopter tour over the volcano. I must say that Akaka falls is one of the most amazing water falls I have seen in my life! Definitely follow the suggested route for the hike as this will result in you seeing Akaka falls last which definitely makes the 5 minute walk continue... More

This very lush, beautiful area with bamboo stands and sheer vertical walls covered in vegetation is the icing on the cake of Akaka Falls. The falls, over 400 feet are wonderful! Well worth a visit.

One of the taller falls on the big island. Very beautiful to photograph with a small pool on the bottom. Misty if you visit during rain storm at the volcano. Recently implemented a self service parking kiosk which is enforced. Several steps to climb to see the falls. Stay to the right on the loop to go down the majority... More

This is a half mile loop up and down a paved staircase--every step and bend rewards you with a breathtaking bista of foliage/colors, reed formations, and the infamous Akaka falls. Hawaii drivers license holders get to park and enter for free. The visitors pay just $1 to get in. Great pix taking opportunities.

We went here because it was raining, and needed an outing… And it was pretty good. I had expected there to be hiking, but the walk was maybe 20 to 25 minutes. (With stairs, so not accessible for some) there is a HUGE tree along the path that my son loved. There are two waterfalls to see you. Parking is... More

The picture tells it all. Clean white water fall plummeting into a lush valley. The walk around the parks takes about 1/2 hour to 3/4 hr. I would definitely recommend this. It was not busy when we were there but the walk would be unpleasant with several tours buses walking through. The falls aren't as spectacular as those in the... More
