We ventured to Akaka Falls for a day out, and were a little underwhelmed. Part of the walk wasn't opened, which was disappointing. The easy main walk to the falls certainly has some beautiful plants on the way, and provides for plenty of photo opportunities....More

What an amazing gorgeous place - a very short easy walk. These falls are higher than Niagara Falls ( not so wide ) Today we saw the main waterfall plus at least 3 or 4 smaller It is a must see - loved this more...More

The Akaka photographs do not do the falls justice. This attraction is a must see. Absolutely stunning and beautiful! The falls is accessed by a short walk. The walk is a beautiful stroll through lush foliage.

We stopped here in the morning, right when the park opened and enjoyed the short walk down to see the falls. Fun place to stop for pictures and a good tie-in with the Hawaii Botanical Gardens. Small parking lot with bathrooms and a small entrance...More

this is a quick trip off the beaten path for a beautiful view of the falls which are taller than Niagara Falls!

As so many others have said this is a short visit area. Especially now ( 6/2017) as the loop trail is closed so there is only the short walk from the parking lot to falls. If you don't want to pay the $5 park outside...More

If you didn't read and follow the signs you would never know this 400' waterfall is even there. A quick drive through a residential neighborhood, turn onto another road, drive another short distance and you'll see the parking lot. It costs $5.00 to park in...More

Show your kamaaina card (aka Hawaii state drivers license) for free parking in the parking lot, otherwise, you'll have to pay a small fee to park in the lot. A short walk to a breathtaking waterfall. There are lots of tourists, but it's worth it:)

Ok for a photo but $5 to park to walk the short distance is overrated. We stayed 19 minutes and it is a pretty waterfall but there are lots of those on the islands.

This is a very pretty waterfall, but there is not much else to it! $5 fee to park your vehicle. A viewing platform is available. It is one of those places you do have to stop at though.

You can go the way in normal clothes. Be careful when the floor is wet; then it can be slippery.

Is there any website or twitter feed or something that tells you if the waterfalls are flowing or not? I saw that it is not always active. Hoping to plan ahead and avoid a few hours in the car if the waterfalls aren't flowing.
