Enriching our unique town, this art venue is vibrant and very community oriented, from local classical concerts, to cutting edge Gallery shows, this place grows art. A huge supporter of Youth Arts, this commuity of artist supports the local youth and offers a great summer program for local youngsters to flex their art muscles.

We were walking Hilo town when we spotted an exhibition of Korean calligraphy, with great historic and cultural information of a culture often dominated by China and Japan.

The EHCC is apparently a space for events and classes in addition to its gallery space and store. The latter two are what attracts the visitor. Space allows (I suspect always) a single exhibit. The light and glass show by Cathy Cunningham-Little when we were there was absolutely terrific. An outstanding choice perhaps unexpected in a small city. Also the... More

I attended the first in the Tea Series, a Japanese Tea Ceremony, to introduce the audience to culture through the tradition of serving tea. It was fantastic! The stage was set up like a tea house and guests were invited to participate along with guidance. I became a member of EHCC because of it, and was expecting there to be... More

EHCC hosts small local artists. Great place to see a local play at a great, reasonable price. Recently had a Hawaiian quilt show, with master quilters answering questions. Free.

Just saw a show of traditional Hawaiian style quilts at the center. They were all made by local fiber artists and despite the small area, there was a good variety of styles to see. Workshops were being offered at the center also. It is directly across the street from a beautiful public park with a statue of the Merrie Monarch... More

Local art and artists works shown in juried environments. There are some shows that are outstanding: Spring (May) and Fall (November) Art Show and the Young at Art in March come to mind. Great gift shop too.

Every exhibit I've seen there has been wonderful but it is also a small venue, so it doesn't take long to visit

I vist the East Hawaii Cultural Center as frequently as I can to view the work of local artists. It is a wonderful experience and reveals the stunning talent we have on the Big Island.
