Pretty sad. You are at the mercy of nature but it really isn't anything to write home about. He basically just tours around until one of the passengers or himself sees something. The snacks and refreshments are really pathetic. I counted on the 'experience' aspect of the website but felt it wasn't worth the total 2 minutes of whale sightings.

You are the mercy of nature on this tour. We were on the boat for almost three hours and saw about ten seconds of whales and their tales. Captain Dan kept up a running dialogue on whales so you learn something. Try to sit under the canopy so the sun does not bake you. The crew was pleasant. The snacks... More

I can not say enough about this experience and the company that provided it for me. Capt. Dan was recommend (highly) by a friend that used his service years ago....nothing had changed! We had a family crisis the day before and they were kind enough to accommodate or needs. We had seen a Whale 5 mins into the trip and... More

Eventhough it is a crowded tour, I really enjoyed it. Capt Dan knows a lot about this amazing creatures, and he wants to o share his knowledge with everybody. We saw more that 6 whales, one mother with her baby!!! Unforgettable! He offers snacks, juice, water, fresh towels and mints, so he takes care of us. The crew is very... More

Capt Dan was very knowledgeable of the area, as well as the whales, although the whales were uncooperative and all of them seem to have gone to Maui, Capt. Dans trip was very educational, gave us different information about the whales and the area than what we knew, and when we were able to find whales, he stayed close enough... More

Captain Dan was very knowledgeable but we spotted only two humpbacks at a distance. I was hoping for a miracle closeup to see in the clear water.

On our fist morning outing we didn't see any wildlife, even though hanging out at the beach we saw some breaching in the horizon. On our 2nd afternoon trip we must have come across 6-8 whales (some solo some pairs) not far from the harbor. I was so happy because that's the main reason we came to Hawaii in January... More

My wife and I just got back from Kona, and loved going on Captain Dan's whale watching. We would have loved to have seen more whales (who wouldn't), but Captain Dan made up for it with his knowledge of the whales and the area. We would do this tour again.

We had a fantastic time. The crew and captain were engaging and knowledgable. The boat was comfortable and best of all we saw a few whales breach multiple times! Would strongly recommend this trip for anyone visiting the island!

Visited last week with my family, and the sight of whales jumping out of the water several times was incredible. We only saw two whales but those whales put on a show that we will never forget. The Captain gave us some great insight into the whales as well. The crew was great, especially the younger lady from Washington. She... More
