The lookout is breathtaking! There were a lot of cars when we went but we found a spot along the road.

Waipio is known like one of the best view, easy to join and see, in all Hawaiian islands. At the far Northeast of Big island, you could find and explore (if you are a good hiker) several wonderful green valleys. The lookout is the easiest...More

It's a rather long drive from the Kohala Coast to this attraction, but well worth it. The view is spectacular, one of the best we saw in our visit to three islands. We did not have time to go down into the valley but I...More

It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to reach the Waipio valley lookout. Do note that the Waipio valley beach is about a twenty minutes to half an hour drive down from this point down a narrow road. I would have loved to...More

I am sure there are better things in life then to drive a hour plus just to get a view of the waipio valley but I guess some people are just stupid that way . But Wow ! Beautiful!

The Waipi'o Valley is pretty amazing. If you're going to visit the overlook, you should definitely get down into the valley one way or another! If you don't have time or can't afford a tour, the overlook is still worth a visit!

While visiting the big island of Hawaii our family stopped at the Waipio Valley Lookout. Just a few miles from Honokaa. Excellent view, you can see Maui in the distance.

Every time I visit the Big Island, I always visit Waipio Lookout. It's been probably been 10 years but the beauty of the valley hasn't changed. The parking here is a problem. Not enough room to accommodate the tourists who are eager to see the...More

This was my second visit to Waipio Valley. I first visited 15 years ago. It's just as amazing as I remembered. The walk down and up is tough, a steep 25degree incline but once you get down there it's like being in another world. No...More

From there to Marriott was about 90 minutes or so but depends on traffic. It is just two lane roads and the speeds are no more than 40-45 on average. There were picnic tables on the top and was covered. We did not trek down... More
