These tide pools were some of the most amazing tide pools in the world. Sadly this area was overrun and filled in with lava rock from the Kilauea eruption of 2018. The area is now inaccessible to travelers. A tremendous loss of natural beauty for...More

Buried by lava. Our thoughts go out to the hundreds of people whose homes were lost in the latest eruption .

This area no longer exists. We tried to go 7/10 and it has been under a lava flow for a couple of weeks now. Sad from what I hear.

An inconvenient walk from where you have to park, however walking through the neighborhood is kind of wonderful and the houses all seem to have their own little water holes and fountains. As you reach the end of the block and enter the road along...More

Unfortunately, the area has been covered by lava and you can no longer enjoy the beauty that was displayed. Hopefully one day there will be another set of tide pools that will be just as beautiful.

These have now been covered by Lava. My aunt said they were the most amazing thing you could ever see, now just a memory. Prayers and blessings are with Puna, Kapoho, and all affected parts of the Big Island from the lava flow.

We were fortunate to spend a month in Kapoho Estates and these tide pools were daily visits whenever we were not traveling elsewhere on the island. Important to time it right for when the tide was in, otherwise too shallow for good snorkeling. The fish...More

Even though you have to walk a few blocks away in order to park, We enjoyed this tide pool area. Lots and Lots of pools deep enough to snorkel in with amazing, bright colored fish everywhere.

Both Champagne Pond and Kapoho Tidepools are in gated communities. At Champagne Pond, you just need to take the walkway around the gate. Once inside, there aren't good markings on how to get there though. At Kapoho... More
