Stop to gaze at the beautiful orchid selection - visit the gift shop - and talk to the folks working there. The gentleman at the counter (very sorry I didn't get his name) was very helpful and assisted us in planning our drive to Kona...More

The sheer variety of orchids on display at Akatsuka's is astonishing. The staff is knowledgable and helpful and generously offered suggestions on how to address our reblooming challenges at home. Do stop here on your way to or from the Volcanoes National Park.

Beautiful flowering plants "designed" on site. We bring guests here frequently, and even those who don't love orchids are impressed. Black orchid, anyone?!

I know nothing about orchids, other than that they are pretty and I can't keep them alive. This place was awesome though because there were so many different types of orchids and they walk you through how long and what it takes to grow them....More

If you can, do stop here. The orchids are so very very lovely. Even non plant lovers get overwhelmed at the shear number of different colors.

This garden has changed to a pay to view format. I suppose they had to make that change because they get so many looky-loos on tour buses. We have visited in the past which made this change uncomfortable for us

Nate, our guide, was excellent--personable and very knowledgeable. We learned so much about orchids and now appreciate them so much more. Ladies at the desk were equally personable and gracious.
