Neat to walk the ‘King’s Highway’ and see petroglyphs. Not far from King’s or Queen’s marketplace; about a 1/3 mile walk on uneven lava fields; just follow the path and you’ll run into them. The glyphs are not marked but pop up plentifully when you get to the area. Don’t be one of “those” tourists that ruin centuries of history and mark graffiti, try to pet the buffalo in Yellowstone, or break up irreplaceable ancient art!!! None of the petroglyphs are protected and you may even find yourself walking on them if you get lost in the lava field. No charge/ free to see.

Quick and easy hike depending on how long you look at the petroglyphs, but very cool to see! Dates back to the 1400-1800s.

Nice petroglyphs within short walking distance. Unfortunately some vandalism. Also atomosphere weird since it was in the middle of the golf course.

The walk to/from these petroglyphs takes about an hour. We'd highly recommend doing this either early morning or later in the day as the sun beats down on the path, especially on the lava flow areas.

Be sure to wear hats and take water too........some parts of the path were difficult to see, but all in all, a pleasant experience.

The actual petroglyphs are fun to see. It’s a long hot walk down to the end.
They are at the very end of a long lava flow trail that is not really a trail in some areas. I was also looking not to step on any at the beginning of the trail and they are not there.

Not a long walk (maybe an hour total) but a free way to see some interesting designs and try to figure out what the messages mean. We parked in the Kings landing parking lot and no one bothered us.

This was a fun walk to see all the ancient petroglyphs. Wear good shoes, the rocks are sharp. Also a hat would be good, there is zero shade. But it was a lot of interesting history

We walked along the Kings Road through the Petroglyphs today for about an hour (plenty of time). The natural lava formations are the most impressive part of this walk as it’s a bit unclear which stone carvings are actually original. It was a fun walk and took lots of photos.

If your staying at the condos or resorts in Waikoloa this is a great morning walk. It gets hot quickly as the morning progresses so go early and wear running shoes not flip flops, and take water. Very interesting history.
