This was a fun walk to see all the ancient petroglyphs. Wear good shoes, the rocks are sharp. Also a hat would be good, there is zero shade. But it was a lot of interesting history

We walked along the Kings Road through the Petroglyphs today for about an hour (plenty of time). The natural lava formations are the most impressive part of this walk as it’s a bit unclear which stone carvings are actually original. It was a fun walk and took lots of photos.

If your staying at the condos or resorts in Waikoloa this is a great morning walk. It gets hot quickly as the morning progresses so go early and wear running shoes not flip flops, and take water. Very interesting history.

This is a cool hike back in time. It’s free and only takes 45 minutes to an hour to explore. This is a hike through ancient lava fields so wear some comfortable shoes. There are some informative signs along the way to help you know what your’e looking at. If the history of the island interests you, then it’s worth the short amount of time to experience. Located near the shops at Waikoloa Beach Resort

Park in back of Kings Mall. This is not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers or people who use canes, but for everyone who is able, doesn't mind a stony path, it is so worth it! It is amazing to walk where the ancients walked and to see this ancient art. The signs are very informative too. If you love petroglyphs nationwide, you'll love this petroglyph field!

This is a great and well marked trail leading to an incredible collection of petroglyphs. It is a pretty easy trail, but very hot even by mid morning, bring plenty of water.

Our family with young kids had fun searching and finding the petroglyphs on a lava path. The walk was better with solid shoes and done earlier to stay out of the heat. The parking is at a shopping center next to a gas station, and it was easily accessed. Spend an hour to appreciate Hawaiian culture.

We saw the old road, but we didn’t see any signs saying what it was, so we didn’t know what we were walking on until days later when we saw the signs. Once I realized what everything was it was really cool to see all of the petroglyphs and remains of the ancient road. I highly recommend stopping to take a look if you’re in the area, it is really cool.

This is a sacred historical and cultural area of interest.
The low reviews are hilarious and a reminder that people can be bummers. Rocks are sharp! Area was messy! These people must have been dyslexic, I can’t read anything with these backwards letters!

Have some class and tact. These are ancient ruins. This isn’t Disneyland, no one is here to hold your hand and spoon feed you info. Get over yourself.

These ruins and ancient petroglyphs were amazing. We spent an hour here trying to look at as many as we could. We walked all the footpaths and made sure to stay on the trails and not venture into Kapu areas.

Bring water, wear a hat and sunscreen. There is no shade. The black lava fiends get very hot. And wear closed toed shoes! Yes, the lava rocks are sharp.

And yes there is some newer graffiti, like the giant you know what. While graffiti is never ok, I did giggle.

If you are history buffs, appreciate the mysteries of the past (dating as far back as to the 16th century), and love petroglyphs, then this is for you! We love stepping into history and marveling/discovering the past! If you want a break from ocean activities, this spot also gives a calm vibe.
