Underrated beach in Waikoloa
Aug 2021
Wide beach with some sand, though it doesn't stretch into the water far. Still, makes snorkeling entry easy, and the snorkeling is pretty good. I got my best shots of a sea turtle; better than Capt Cooks, and all other beaches I visited. Plenty of parking so you don't have to get there at the crack of dawn, and pretty good shade on the left side, right where you enter, and near the showers and bathrooms. Seemed to be somewhat protected from the big swells, so OK for kids.

Underrated beach; good for snorkeling

Best beach near Waikoloa; great parking; very good snorkeling. Got my best video of a turtle here. Shade, sand, showers, bathrooms and easy walk from parking.

The most beautiful beach I have ever seen
Jul 2021
My family and I were on vacation in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area in July and we went to Anaehoomalu Bay Beach which is very close by. In fact we went twice because we loved it so much. There is a relatively large free parking lot that is a short walk from the beach. You walk past a tree covered area, bathroom, showers, and then you see one of the most beautiful beaches in the world...yes I said it…”in the world”. The sand was soft and the water was clear, calm and warm. To our surprise the beach was not very crowded. There were just enough people so you did not feel alone but not too many that you were surrounded. Our girls (6 & 8) loved playing in the water because there were waves but they were not that big. The water was unbelievably warm and clear . It was almost like being in a heated pool. The wind was calm too. If you want to boogie board, this is not the place as the water is very calm (I would recommend Magic Sands, Kua Bay, and Hapuna for that). My wife also saw a turtle swim by. There are no lifeguards here. When I think of paradise I will now think of this beach. My verbal description of how beautiful it is just does not do it justice. You need to experience this beach for yourself.

This is about the only sand beach around Waikoloa. Next to Lava Lava club for dining on the sand. Coconut grove for shade. Some water toy rentals

Swam, snorkeled and spent a wonderful beach day relaxing under the palm trees. Calm waters. Great family location. Also has a nice waterfront restaurant right on the water.

Golden sunsets
Jul 2021 • Family
Stopped by this beach to view the sunset. Short walk from the parking lot. Magical sunsets that make for great photo opportunities! We say people snorkeling near the shore too and kids playing in the sand area.

Beautiful beach
May 2021
This is a beautiful beach with mostly sand bottom, but some coral as well. The snorkeling was not great, but it was very windy so that may have made a difference. If you’re looking for a relatively quiet beach without a whole lot of waves then this could be a good choice.

Soft sand south
Mar 2021
Near the hotel the beach is gradual and the waves are subdued. Venture south past Lava Lava and the salt and pepper sand is very soft adding a level of difficulty to your trek. it is unlikely your beach wagon will do well but if you make the effort you will find some reasonable level of solitude and beautiful views. Hono and at the right time of year humpbacks dot the landscape.

A favorite on the Big Island
Jan 2021
This is my favorite beach on the Big Island. To start, there is plenty of parking. While it may fill up on peak days, most of the time you have no problem getting a spot.

The walkway to the beach is well maintained, and actually beautiful with palm trees and stone walkways.

Bathrooms and showers are available, and always seem to be clean.

There are two options when you get to the beach:

To the right:
The beach is a fairly narrow strip between the ocean and a pond (which you can't, and wouldn't want to swim in). The shore break is pretty far out, so most of the time there are only gentle waves. This is perfect for families with small children.

The water drops off to about 4 feet deep almost immediately. After that, there is a small reef that you need to float over to get to deeper water.

To the left:
The beach is initially very rocky. If you pass in front of the Lava Lava Club (restaurant and bar), you reach a very quiet portion of the beach. It's not easy to do much swimming here because it is very rocky, and the waves a breaking close to shore. But it is absolutely beautiful, and often very quiet.

This is also a great beach for sea turtles. You'll see them sunning themselves on the sand.

Finally, this is one of those places you should come for sunsets. Magnificent!
