Best Snorkelling around the Waikoloa Village area.
Aug 2021
Located about a 10 minute drive from the Waikoloa resort area, this beach in the Mauna Lani area is a hidden gem! The public parking area is small so we have found getting there in the afternoon has worked out for us in terms of getting a spot. The snorkelling is amazing right off the shore, and it is calm as the bay is protected. We also love how uncrowded it is due to the limited parking.

Unique black sand beach - quiet and semi private.

Great location through gated community. True black sand with areas to snorkel. Very limited parking though. Place to rinse feet. Sanyo can get pretty hot so be careful. Relatively calm but be careful some surrounding rock. Also slight rock line as you enter the water.

Beautiful Beach
Jul 2021 • Family
This is one of the Blacksand beaches of Hawaii. It was beautiful and the snorkeling was good. There was parking, bathrooms, and water to rinse off your feet. You need to bring all items with you.

We may have just been lucky, but at one point it was just us and another family on the beach. Very little shade for those who do not seek the sun all day. Would go back!!

Beautiful but hot
Jun 2021
We had to try to get in a couple of times before there was space for us in the small parking area. The beach is beautiful. The sand was outrageously hot. We did a little snorkeling. It wasn't too bad.

Go early for a great morning and leave before the sand bakes your feet
Jun 2021 • Family
Great great beach. Really fun for young kids (4 and 1) with the black sand and virtually no waves. Snorkeling was nice too with cool fish and rock features. Best part (for us anyway since we got there early) is they limit the number of people (not just cars). Makes for a calm beach with plenty of space (for us to not annoy people)!

A perfect evening for two
Jun 2021 • Couples
Amazing little private beach tucked away in the back of a private gated mega million neighborhood. Based on the reviews, we didn’t even try to visit during the day time but instead discovered that this little slice of heaven was best enjoyed in em the evening hours when the beach was nearly deserted and parking was wide open. It was during this time that we could appreciate a truly amazing sunset over a quiet picnic dinner.

To make things super easy, we brought hotel beach towels with us to sit on and we picked up dinner from the Island Gourmet Market that was just a few Mike’s away. This absolutely was the highlight of my trip with my husband and a must do for all! Take advantage before the secret gets out!

Black sand beach with snorkeling
Jun 2021 • Family
Great beach. Go early or be persistent with the guy at the gate. They limit entry but it is worth it. Uncrowded beach with great snorkeling. Amazing selection of fish, turtles, coral wall. The black sand is hot but it is the best snorkeling we found so far!
