This was an excellent day excursion. It was very interesting and the presenter did a terrific job of explaining, modeling, using visuals, and telling funny anecdotal stories. We would highly recommend it to those interested in the history of taro farming.

This was an amazing visit. I had always admired the taro fields from the scenic lookout but to be on the farm in person was awe inspiring. I really admire the tenacity and perseverance of this multi generational farm family, doing everything they can to keep a tradition alive. The outreach to educate the next generation as well makes the... More

The tour of the fields was ok but all the machines in the rice mill were described as artifacts A print out some explanation of the process would have been helpful

If you enjoy natural things, you will love this tour, as you are introduced to the challenges facing the biggest taro farm in Hawaii by a member of the family who actually do the work.

Despite the fact that my wife and I are frequent visitors to Kauai, we have never visited a taro/rice farm. This is very unfortunate because farming of this nature is so much a part of Hawaiian history and culture. This very interesting and informative tour provided us an excellent overview of all aspects of taro farming, and the particular challenges... More

As a rice farmer from California, I was curious to learn about the rice growing and milling history on Kauai. The taro farm (formerly rice) is quite picturesque and the tour guide was sixth generation on the land. It's gotta be tough ekeing out a living on taro. Personally I prefer rice both for growing and eating. Like rice fields,... More

Lyndsey was so informative about all phases of taro farming and also about the rice mill. Loved her hands-on approach. We learned so much. Sampling the taro and coconut balls at the farm and the smoothies at the food stand were enjoyable also. The lunch was delicious also. This excursion was worth the time and money.

the taro tour was very interesting and well explained. However, we wished we could have really seen how the farmers harvest the taro - specially as we have never seen taro fields before. However, coming from Europe, the old rice mill was not overly interesting as we can see many old places like that.

We very much enjoyed this tour. Getting to know how taro is grown and all the perils involved was interesting. It was pouring rain, so we got a bit muddy, but we enjoyed it. Having the guide be the farmer was excellent. The food was tasty as well.
