This is a must see if you are traveling though Hanapepe. The swinging bridge can be a little unnerving walking across it, but it allows you to see what it was like back in the day when they used this to actually transport necessary goods across the river. This is a quick visit, so stop in the local shops afterwards.... More

The Hanapepe Swinging Bridge is located on the north end of the town of Hanapepe. This town is located at the southern end of Kauai and is close to Waimea Canyon State Park. It is also located about 25 west of Lihue Airport. This bridge connects the town of Hanapepe with Hanapepe Valley. This bridge is not firm and swings... More

We had the bridge to ourselves, which was nice for photos. An easy historical venue. The town was closed up when we were there (too early). But, get there before the tourist show up. The buses stop and it gets crowded. A nice gallery across the bridge.

A very bouncy experience, but interesting. Not for people with bad spines or knees. You cross over a small river or canal on a suspension bridge--the walk across worth it if you are at sunset. The sky lights up the red cliffs and the water. Very pretty.

It was interesting to see and a solution to getting over a river but not worth a detour but if you go to lunch at midnight bear Bakery, stroll across the street and check out the bridge

The red cliffs you see from the bridge are pretty. It is a little wooden swinging bridge that you should walk across if you are in Hanapepe

Great piece of architecture makes this bridge very unique. In a real nice place to visit shops in Hanapepe. Must stop for all who visit the island. Nice art gallery on the other side. My wife is afraid of heights but after challenging herself with a helicopter ride on the island, she thought this would be a piece of cake.... More

We had gone to salt pond beach for the day and knew this was near by. It is in a nice little quite town. The town has great art dealers and pottery. I will admit I was freaked out walking across the bridge I guess I am more of chicken then I thought. It was actually cool and I am... More

I was expecting to be a little bridge across a creek. But it was over a river and much longer than expected. Fun to walk across and it Does swing! We visited it on Art Walk night and there is a little gallery on the other side so do go across.

Just a little attraction while in Hanapepe. Very small town, with a few shops and galleries. Have a Shave ice, window shopping and stroll across the bridge. Only a slight breeze, but the bridge was definitely swinging:)
