This hike is impossible to get lost on this trail (unlike some other on Hawaii. It does rain and the trail can get muddy, but is is not dangerous. Easy to find and the lookouts are great. Figure 2 hours. I would want to be off the trail before dark.

This is a great hike for all ages. A lot of hiking in Kauai is difficult for tourists because our trails are rugged and have a lot of elevation changes. This is not one of those hikes. The Kuilau Trail is accessed by driving to the end of the pavement on Kuamoo Road. There is limited parking right next to... More

There is a marker off the road. It is just before the parking lot where the Rainbow Eucalyptus trees are located. You can park to the side or parkin in the lot and walk. The trail can be muddy and slippery in some places. Go early to enjoy the song birds. The views are stunning. There were two picnic tables... More

Just go as far as you can this is a slippery trail and we were prepared to hike but went to the first lookout and it was so worth it. Just be careful

Many hikes on Kauai are affected by weather. This hike is usually good and once you gain some of the altitude, you out-hike areas that can be muddy. The mud usually occurring lose to the beginning of the trail where folks have driven some kind of all wheel vehicles and really torn through the mud. We have seen wild pigs... More

The views were gorgeous and the bird song was beautiful. I would recommend an early morning walk when it is less busy. Also, there is a geocache along the trail.

This trail is best hiked when the weather is/has been dry. You will see lots of different terrains and experience some amazing views. Take lots of water and wear good hiking shoes. Some areas of the path have been mucked up by the horses being ridden on the trail, so watch your step! Picnic area at top of ridge. This... More

Trail goes up for at least a mile. Fitbit measured 64 flights and about five miles. Wear hiking shoes/boots and use hiking stick if needed for muddy areas. Depends on your skills. Sounds of forest birds singing, spectacular views. At top is a covered picnic table with several benches. You will definitely get the feel of being in the mountains... More

Great views along the way. Lots of vistas, birds, various flowers and trees. Easy hike. You can go to the picnic area and back for a total of about 2.5 miles or continue to the end of the trail and back out for about 4 miles total
