The pre-contact exhibits are very good; small collections but docents are well informed and very friendly. It doesn't take all day to enjoy the museum, and the gift shop has unique items that are reasonable priced and all sales benefit the museum. Well worth a...More

The front office people at the gift shop obviously cared about the museum and their guests. They were very gracious. The museum is a small dose of Hawaii history and the ways that immigrants to the sugar cane plantations brought with them things that we...More

We are so glad this historical landmark of a building has a new director, thus a new look inside including lots to see and learn about. A local artist painted some wonderful portraits of past leaders, kings & queens. A friend of ours told us...More

I am a sucker for small regional museums. They always seem to have incredibly enthusiastic and voluntary staff whose contagious delight in the artifacts they watch over improves my mood enormously. This museum is no exception. If you pay attention, you will leave with a...More

A small museum with some exceptional and unique exhibits. Although well laid out for self guided investigation the Monday talks by Docent Jim Jung brings the story of Cleopatra's Barge (Ha'a Heo Hawaii) to life. This museum, since 1960, contains rare and cultural artefacts from...More

I have never heard of a "lazy river" on Kauai, especially near the museum, it is in the middle of Lihue town.

Older kids yes, but really its a quiet subdued museum, and fairly small. I think kids would be bored and you would be busy keeping them from getting into things. Good luck
