Beautiful wild beach where the mountains meet the sea. There are miles of large white sand, perfect for a day at the beach or a quick stop for some amazing photos. I don’t recommend the trek without the proper car, we had a 4 wheel...More

I heard the dirt road to Polihale Beach just reopened and was told by the locals that I must seize the day. They were right! The unpaved road (about 3 miles) was a bit unnerving in our two wheel sedan. Other than that it was...More

This is why you come to Hawaii. The beach goes on and on and is less crowded. The rocky 3- mile drive to the beach is pretty treacherous. You can only go about 20 miles an hour. We were worried about our tires but we...More

Tried to go to park today. The gate is still chained closed, and the sign is up stating very clearly “Park Closed until further notice!” With they had a date of projected opening, but they didn’t and you could still see the bulldozers on the...More

Desolate and expansive views of beach. Miles of beaches with great views. Be careful of the surf. No snorkeling here. This is the dessert side of the island. Great for sunset.

This is an isolated, white-sand beach on the western side of Kauai with huge cliffs at the northern end. It stretches for miles and has hardly a soul around. It’s a little over 30 miles from Poipu, essentially at the end of Route 50 (Kaumualii...More

April 10, 2018. Due to the road conditions, the road and park are closed. You can’t drive or walk in. They expect it to be closed for 1 - 2 weeks. There’s an attendant on duty at the gate.

Amazing long beautiful beach. Sunsets are the best here. Warning! The road in was super rough. Go slow and give yourself time to get to the beach. It took us a lot longer than planned; the road goes a ways back. Totally worth it!!!

Coolest beach on Kaua'i. Jeep is definitely recommended for this! (Skip renting the Mustang on your trip) I'm not sure if I loved the mud road getting there or the beach itself more. The views were absolutely incredible and because this is a task to...More

I would have given this 5 starts if it was not for the horrible road to get there. 5 miles of pot holes and mud. Really is worth it though. Much better in a Jeep or truck but many cars were there as well.

February but check the website and rainfall. If you e had a big long rainy spell it can still flood. Usually may is fine if your going now but a storm can change that

It is closed still today. May 12, 2028. Just read the government website. The road should open on May 15th. Apparently it was closed due to all the flooding. ehawaii.gov.

On a Friday afternoon, I could count perhaps 10 vehicles along a lengthy stretch of perhaps half a mile of beach. It is limited in the number of visitors due to the long, rough ride to reach this beach. Be aware, there are... More
