Kauai has many beautiful beaches, and while this beach is beautiful, it definitely was NOT worth the pitted pothole Hellish drive in! Once we arrived at the end, the beach was beautiful, but so are many others that are more accessible. Be sure to bring...More

First thing- if you are renting a car, it is my understanding that the road to Polihale violates the terms of the rental agreement. But that being said, I did drive my rental car the three rough miles (very, VERY carefully - I might add)...More

Make sure that you bought the insurance on your rental car. The road is 25 to 30 minutes of rocks and potholes. The beach is miles of sand, hot, dry, and remote. This was not my favorite stop in Kauai.

Coolest beach, 5 miles of off roading- is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Make sure its not raining though. Need to rent SUV to be able to go. There was maybe a handful of others on the...More

We were lucky to come here twice on a recent trip to Kauai. It is a beautiful, long beach that ends at the start of the Napali Coast on the southwest side. We took the road all the way to the end both times and...More

If seclusion is your thing, this is your place. Long white sand beach that's often all yours at night. Waves and currents here can be treacherous,so use extreme caution when swimming. No shade here and it can be quite hot. But if you bring lots...More

We had a great afternoon at Polihale--just please don't mention it to Hertz or Avis. Polihale's beach stretches for as far as the eye can see and the water is perfect Hawaii. On the cusp of the Napali Coast the scenery is awesome and you...More

We have been to Kauai 5 times but never ventured out to the end of the road on the west side. This time we did and glad we made the little adventure. At the end of the highway you take the dirt road to your...More

It's a bit of a drive to get here but we really enjoyed the enormous beach and playing in the waves. It's easy to find your own space because it's so big. Not too many people anyways, and they seem to be mostly locals. It's...More

As linh88 said, there is a small dirt parking area under trees (2-3 cars size). We were able to park there. We didn't drive or park on the sand.

I think so because camping is allowed and cars drive on the beach. But I can't recall seeing remnants of past fires when we were there
