Don't expect beach access here, but do expect amazing beach/ocean/wave views. That isn't why we came--we wanted to see the plants and the 500-ish year old Hawai'ian structures, both of which are great, with very helpful interpretive markers. Rough road to get there, but a...More

On the Road to Hana, we decided to divert down the side road to see the Lava Tube and the Kahanu Garden. The views from the garden are breathtaking. Looking back up at Haleakala, looking out onto the coast line, it was well worth it....More

Worthwhile side trip during our Road to Hana excursion. For a small fee can walk through the gardens at your own pace and take in the native trees/plants and see the largest heiau (temple) in Hawai'i. Very nice views of the ocean as well.

There were some plants in various qualities and a Haiau of which you cannot see a lot. For the bread fruit, they are actually by the gate. Access to this garden if by unpaved road.

I am a local Maui girl and hadn't been to this site in over 20 years. Went to Hana with a friend who is visiting and we decided to see the Gardens on our way in. Glad we stopped to see Maui's largest intact heiau...More

Enjoyed our visit here. Leisurely walk to see lots of plants, trees and views of the ocean. Would recommend to take a leisurely stroll back in time

This is another place where I really didn't want to stop and pay for, but I guess all in all it was sort of worth the money. There really is nothing adventurous about the place, but If you want to take a quiet slow walk...More

Nominal cost; and you receive a very nice booklet with the name and detail description of the various plants. A very beautiful, peaceful, relaxing garden. A true Hawaiian experience. Maybe $10 to enter the grounds... More
