My husband and I walked around the area and thought it was very nice and educational. It's a great stop especially for kids.

A long boardwalk through the refuge gives great views of the native habitat and several species of endangered bird species. Very limited parking.

At our visit the second week of May, the only thing we saw at the ponds were cattle egrets flying overhead and some Hawaiian stilts; there weren't many walking trails. The Kealia Ponds boardwalk along the ocean front offered more interest in a lot of...More

This is a nice little walk, especially to relax before a flight out. Helps to kill some time without getting sandy or spending money. Not as many birds there as I had expected, but the migratory birds had probably already left by May. Very easy,...More

Unless you are a serious ornithologist or avid bird watcher, this is a time filler that provides a wonderful hour of mild activity when you have some spare time. It is handicap accessible and a fun walk.

This a wonderful free activity. Go in the morning before it gets too warm. Great bird watching. Parking can be problematic. Take your time.
