We saw 2 very different performances here in April, 2018. One told the origins of the Hawaiian islands in music and dance. I was wary of this initially, but it turned out to be fairly easy to interpret, and beautifully done. We also attended an...More
Both Ulalena and Burnin Love are not performing
Temporarily Closed, not sure for how long
Reservations made for May 14th have been cancelled but they called to notify and gave full refund.
Still picked 5 stars because it's an amazing show!! Would've been...More
It was my mom and I's first time in Maui, and many people, including locals told us to go see 'Ulalena! It was very captivating, insightful and emotional. It was somewhat of a "Cirque du Soleil" moment with the aerial performer, unbelievable. The actors/actresses were...More
I just don't understand all the hype about this show. My husband & I found it boring and even confusing. It did nothing to help us understand Hawaiian culture. We thought it was a total waste of our time and money.
Ulalena offers many different performance styles rich with symbolism around a central theme of the history of Hawaii. Aerial performers, integrated giant puppetry (like Lion King), dance, shadow scrims, a bit of gentle audience participation to simulate rain, traditional chant and simulated fight scenes all...More
Supposedly about the settlement and evolution of society of Hawaii. Actually bits of unconnected performances to show off the skills of some of the performers. Parts of Circue du Soleil - good. Group dancing - good. Some comedy - not so good. Scenes not connected....More
Everyone - all ages - enjoyed it. This is the best way to see authentic Hawaiian hula dancing and culture, and the music was excellent. It was a very memorable part of our trip and It was very well done. The seating was comfortable and...More
I have been coming to Maui since the late 60s. The show “Ulalena” started performing about 25 years ago, roughly.
Over that period of time I have seen the show six or seven times, and have recommended it highly to everyone I know who is...More
Really enjoyed the show. It was visually very artsy and creative! Wonderful live music and crazy sound effects! I was just as mesmerized by the musicians as the performers.
The few complaints I had were the lax cell phone policy and the introductions to each...More
We weren’t really feeling the traditional luau and this show was recommended to us by some Hawaiians. We decided to check it out and were glad we did! A very interesting and entertaining show. Come prepared with a little brush up on your Hawaiian history...More

To answer the question about dinner after the Ulalena show. If you park in the Outlet lot across the St from the theatre, the theatre validates your ticket for 4 hrs. There are many nice restaurants on Front St. On trip advisor you can look at them, their menus and pricing that's what I do.

We made our arrangements through the concierge at the hotel /resort. We included a dinner after the show at Ruth chris steakhouse. This was in walking distance of the theater. The dinner was excellent but a little pricey but for a special occasion of being there in Hawaii well worth the memories. We were picked up at the hotel taken to the theater and picked up at the restaurant. Please note if you drive there there is a possible parking fee of 5 dollars

Aloha! Depending on the child, some children really enjoy the colors, characters and music. The musicians on the balcony are also very entertaining. If you are worried about the volume of the show, please mention this to the reservationist when you book your tickets and they can suggest an ideal place to sit for families with children. We welcome guests of any age!
