Family of eight including two children took the Island Princess on a whale watching cruise. Less than ten minutes from dockside we came across our first whale then another and another - even the skipper and crew were impressed how quickly we came across this pod of whales. Next, the skipper noticed a mother with calf, suspected to be about... More

So many whales! So much information given by the crew about whales. We were lucky to also see some dolphins as well. The highlight of the boat ride was seeing a calf and its mum and also two male humpback whales swimming together. They swam right under our boat and the shadows were such a sharp aqua blue! We saw... My husband and I did the Lanai Snorkel tour. We lucked out with a beautiful, warm, sunny early January day. The weather and the ocean were unbelievably gorgeous! The ride out to our first snorkel spot in Lahaina was relaxing as we watched the sunrise (you check in at the dock at 6:30 & the boat leaves 7am - still... More

We went on the early morning excursion and saw many humpback whales exhibiting many whale behaviours and even a pod of dolphins. It was an amazing experience! I especially liked that we were on a larger ship with a cabin below. It felt very safe and is the reason we chose this company over other options with smaller raft sized... More

We went on a Molokini Snorkel Trip in December with Hawaii Ocean Project during our week on Maui. Four from our family (youngest 18 years old) went hoping for a half day of snorkeling trip. What we got was a trip on an older ship which was packed in with over 70 people (80 or so max) where there were... More

Aloha Kevan S, Thank you for taking the time to review our Molokini snorkel. We love taking guests out to experience Maui's amazing ocean environment, and are very sorry that Mother Nature was not cooperative on the day that your family joined us (Although it is wonderful you saw turtles and dolphins!!). On rare occasions, we have to re-route trips... More

We participated in 2 tours of the Hawaii Ocean Project. The first, a 2-hour whale watching tour was very pleasant. The second, a 6-hour Lanai snorkel trip, bordered on disastrous. Our first tour had 25 participants; the second, 96. We saw whales and spinner dolphins on both tours. The first tour was a great experience. MY COMMENTS BELOW ARE DIRECTED... More

Aloha Jim30809, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We value customers, like you and your family, who entrusted us enough on your first activity to come out again with us on another trip. Our Kaulana, the Lanai snorkeling vessel, is certified to travel with 147 passengers; however, we, typically, go out with well below 100 in... More

We have done whale watching tours from Lahaina before,we booked this one at the last minute and were not disappointed. It was very early in the season to see whales, but the captain took us right to them, one even came up right next to the boat, so close they had to turn off the engines. There were only 20... More

We went whale watching with Hawaii Ocean Project in December 2016. Our crew was Becca, Clint, and CJ. They were very friendly and we were very fortunate to find a young jouvenile humpback whale in the mood to show off. He breached multiple times for us to get get great video and pictures. The captain was very friendly and knowledgeable... More

We planned on going to the Lana'i Snorkeling trip, however, when we arrived to check in at 6:30 am, we were told that Lana'i area is not clear to snorkel due to the rain from the day before. The receptionist politely asked if we would like to reschedule or we can go on the trip but a different destination -... More
