We bought a museum passport and this is one of four museums on Maui that charge a admission fee. It's a good value to buy the passport for $16 each. The Bailey house is loaded with furniture and other items from times past. That part was good, but what we really enjoyed the most was a approx. 45 minute video... More

Here is more than just a missionary's impact on hawaiian history. Besides the imported furniture, clothing and other implanted European culture, Bailey House has many pre-contact items that are also respectfully displayed. Not expensive to visit, it's well worth dropping in, walking through the grounds and the house. As another reviewer has mentioned, several of the items will soon need... More

Docent was very informative, small historic missionary house so it won't take more than 30-45 minutes. Good little side trip while you're in Lahaina. You can add the small Chinese museum entrance to your ticket for a small upcharge. Go to the ( free ) period jail nearby too. Aloha !

The house is the restoration of a missionary residence from the mid-1800s. We were greeted enthusiastically by the attendant - one fee gets you into a number of different museums on Maui, and there are all kinds of discounts (Hawaiian native, military, senior, etc.), which he was happy to explain to us, and he was also very willing to tell... First need to understand that there are stairs and a second floor staircase to navigate. Well presented with history, photos, furniture of the period. Interesting to see and appreciate the undertaking that has gone so well. Parking is near the house via the driveway. Park near the house.

The docents are energetic and enthusiastic, the house and its history are amazing and you should take it in but it needs some attention. Much of the house is now devoted to the gift shop and bookstore and the exhibits are beginning to show their age and wear. The open air display of Mr. Bailey's oil paintings is a real... More

Small museum with excellent docents who will give you an informative tour, then let you wander on your own and find them again for questions. Worth the time if you are interested in the history of Maui. Really informative movie about the Hawaiian royalty from the first European contact to the last king and queen of the islands. The natives... More

The Bailey House Museum is nestled in the Iao Valley, so it's definitely worth the stop if you're already going to the Iao Valley State park and you're interested in the history of Hawaii. In terms of museum quality, it's a little rough around the edges. Bailey House does, however, pack itself with information about Hawaiian history and culture from... More

My family of five visited the Bailey House Museum. Very enjoyable to learn about old Maui and settlement by the missionaries. We purchased some lovely Hawaiian souvenirs at the gift shop.
