We just wanted to take a little stroll. We knew the park was closed but we thought we'd just take a little walk from the bottom parking lot. We felt safe UNTIL some CRAZY local came running.... telling us to go away! it's closed. He was awful and his cursing at us ruined our day. We weren't going to where... More

Do something else! The needle is closed at least until June 2017. Although I would check even after that, as other places in Hawaii that have closed have not re-opened on time.

Iao Valley is a wonderful place to enjoy a nature refresh for your soul. It's a beautiful, serene place where mountains and streams touch your soul and rejuvinate you from top to toe. Put it on your list of places to go, but for now, the area is closed to visitors due to a terrible flood in December 2016. Check... More

This is a nice walk through the rain forest. You will enjoy the coolness of the shaded walkway and the beauty at the end of the walk. You should be able to get some beautiful photos

There was a major storm that came through here and was closed in Dec of 2016 they are unsure of when it will be reopened. It would be nice it they would post something further down the road and save you a bit of a drive as you don't find out it is closed until you are close. We went... More

A small $5 fee per vehicle to park, this is well worth the price. Stunning gardens with beautifully maintained grounds. There is a very cool old structure on the grounds, beautiful trees and flowers. The paths are very clearly marked but not there are stairs up and down throughout the park. There is ample shaded areas if being in the... More

Due to heavy rain, the valley was washed out. Major renovation of park and roads are underway. Probably won't open until summer 2017. Great lookout when open. Not an easy climb (steps) if you are elderly or have difficulty walking.

Not much to review, you can drive down the road to the park and take in the views but once you hit the bridge you have to turn around. Only locals can go past here. I would be nice if they could open the park already but historic rains this year seem to be taken a toll on it. Hopefully... More

It would have been nice if there was a sign at the top of the hill to go down stating the park was closed, and has been for 6 months!
