It's a 3-hour hike (with short rest breaks) so I recommend bringing a lot of water to stay hydrated. Expect crouching under and climbing over fallen trees. Certain areas of the trail have very narrow paths with not much room for error so probably not ideal for younger children or adults with disabilities. Not recommended for dogs.

My husband, 23 month old daughter and I completed this hike one Wednesday morning and would throughly recommend it. It's a 4.8 mile loop with some great views of the valleys and the H3. The trail is at times on a ledge with steep sides so we used a baby carrier all the way for our daughter. We started at... More

This is a beautiful hike with some amazing views of the valleys and some amazing scenery where the red soil has been washed away to look like a different planet. Be aware though, it was washed away by heavy rains. Don't start this hike if there's a good chance of rain because the trail can be treacherous when it's flooded.

I try to get on this trail once every 2 to 3 months for exercise. Challenging obstacles for the novice hiker. Hard to get lost if you stick to the trail. There are a number of off shoots that lead to more complex hiking. People need to remember to know their personal limitations before attempting any of the trails. Be... More

The Aiea Loop trail is not as well-known as the more touristy nature spots such as Manoa Falls or Waimea Valley, and as such there are some noticeable differences. The drive up is through a working-class residential neighbourhood and the trailhead has no parking fees and almost no other cars there; we encountered a total of 5 other people during... More

This was a fun hike we did with another couple, their friend, and 6 week old. We went after a couple days of raining weather, so it was very slippery and muddy at times. We started around 8 and were done around 10. We did not stop really and rest or take pictures. The best view is of the mountains... More

I've been fortunate to enjoy this trail for over 40 years and it keeps getting better and better! From the scent of the Eucalyptus trees to the cooling breezes, this is a longer than average hike. Of the many hikes there, I've learned to never start from the bottom, it makes the trail seem like twice as long. About 2/3... More

Decent hike, but there are definitely better hikes on this island. You have to know where to go, because our GPS led us astray. The hike was very muddy in some places. Some ledges were also not ideal for smaller children.
