Haleiwa is a really neat town. It has the off the beaten path, old surfer town feel that you look for when coming to Hawaii. There are a lot of great shops, along with some great beaches, where I'd say you could sit and watch surfers take on the waves, but you probably shouldn't actually get in the water. Absolutely... This probably the best beach in Hawaii to learn to surf. The waves weren't really small or really large to learn to surf. There were lots of Surf schools teaching there. It was a gorgeous beach that had lots of shade and free parking. The water was warm and lots of sand in the water.

It's hard to put into words how big the waves are that these guys and girts surf. They're massive. We were there on a day when a storm brought in 40-50 foot waves. Never seen anything like it. Cool little town and stop at Dominick's Shrimp Shack (actually an old bus).

We were here and stopped for some lunch. It had a beautiful view of the ocean swells and waves. We also got to enjoy seeing some humpbacks in the distance.

Life just doesn't get any better than having Christmas in Hawaii with family. We rented a house in Waianae. Wasn't perfect but it worked for us. Packed lunches for our day trips and was able to fix supper back at the house.

Bus dropped us right by the entrance so it was easy to walk into the park. Pedestrian road is on the left side of the main road with some good crosswalks near the entrance. There are restrooms at the end of the parking area and showers to clean off the sand. Wide, slightly coarse sand along a spectacular north shore... More

Read the recommendation from the Hawaii tourism website; very nice, pleasant, quiet beach with great views. The water was shallow for quite a ways out. The bottom is a mix of rock and sand. This area is ideal for paddle boarders, kayakers and children. No big waves to contend with. Awesome spot for a family with young children. I arrived... More

We were looking for a semi protected snorkeling spot one afternoon. This park does have protected areas, but no coral or pretty fish. They are building new facilities. The park has camping spots.

Calm water here for paddle boarding and great sunset spot in the evening. There are bathrooms and playgrounds for the kids
