Paddle through Kawela Bay in an area that in ancient times was reserved for the Ali'i or hawaiian royalty. View beautiful coral reefs, tropical fish, and WWII wreckage just 3 feet below the Peekaboo™ window on your kayak. Stop at a honu "cleaning station" and watch as some of our green sea turtles get cleaned. For adventure seekers you have the option to surf your kayaks on small 1' waves or try out the sport your guides invented: Stand Up Kayaking!

Explore the secluded Kawela Beach and hike through the jungle tunnel to explore the WWII bunker at Protection Point. Swim in the calm waters of the bay or bird watch for endangered species on one of the many hiking trails through the forest. Relax and enjoy the local refreshments provided for you by your guide. Your keiki will help you search for the buried treasure with the map they find on the trip. Along the shore you can see lava tubes, small sea caves and blowholes. While kayaking, watch out for the two dozen resident sea turtles the Turtle Bay is named after.

Visit the "Lost" Banyan Tree where the hit TV show Lost, Pirates of the Caribbean IV and Hunger Games 2 were filmed. Optionally you can decide to stay longer at Kawela Bay and your guide can provide you with a walking map of the 2 mile trail back to Turtle Bay Resort.

I have never been in a kayak before, and I cannot swim. So if you fit either of those categories, do not let it deter you from enjoying this tour. Kenesha (I hope I'm spelling it right) and Aaron are friendly and patient guides. I couldn't get the hang of back-paddling for at least 20 minutes, and they never got... More

We were a group of 2 families and ended up being the only group on the morning tour. We all had a Single Kayak each and 2 doubles. Through our single kayaks we could see through and saw turtles under the water as we were kayaking. We were all given a take home water bottle and snacks after the kayaking.... More

The weather did not entirely cooperate with us during this excursion but it was still very fun. We booked this activity prior to our arrival. The day of our excursion the wind was up in the morning and created a lot of little waves on the bay where we went to kayak. This made it a challenge spot sea turtles.... More

The bay which Shaka Kayak helps you explore (if you are staying at the nearby Turtle Bay Resort) is small and protected, though the day we went out, the big winds and light rain caused some waves (small and fun to ride) in the enclosure where our guide, a lovely young woman, taught us about the water's most important resident,... This was our first experience with kayaking and it was epic!!!! the only downside was it was raining as we set out but the rain stopped as we got in the water to begin our tour! This tour is a must!

Had a great time cruising around the bay with Shaka Kayaks. I'm not an experienced kayaker, but they quickly had me comfortable paddling around, even with some moderate waves. So fun to see the turtles popping their heads above the water, just feet from the tip of my kayak! Very mellow operation, comfortable and well put together but nothing fancy.... More

We really saw turtles while in the glass bottom kayaks. Outside the harbor the wavers were high but we stayed within the area, were very safe and enjoyed it all..

We loved this experience, so peaceful. Great to see the turtles. Also enjoyed the nature walk. Excellent guides, very relaxed and did not make us feel old! (we are in our 60s). Would definitely recommend, and would like to go again. Definitely a hightlight of our stay in Hawaii.

Our guides were wonderful (Keesha and Aaron) and did a great job guiding us on our kayak tour. We got to see tons of sea turtles and it was amazing! It was also so nice that they took our photos and sent them to us free of charge. Where everyone else charges you for this service, it was such an... More
