We made a stop on our driving tour, it is pretty and with a fabulous view. Easy to park. Well recommended, but not as a single trip.

This is a lovely place to walk around history and view beautiful Umatac Bay on a drive around the island. We recommend a stop here, especially if history is your thing!

One of the many awesome things about Guam is that you get a dose of history along with a fabulous beach vacation. This Spanish fort from the 1800s offers a beautiful vantage point and is just up the road from the Magellan landing monument, making it a perfect stop on a scenic half day's drive. We enjoyed viewing the structures... More

The fort is situated in a breezy, hilltop overlooking the ocean, the bay, and the town. When I visited, it was so breezy that it was so tempting to pullout a mat (if I had one) and take a nap... Or just contemplate and stare into blankness and clear your mind. There weren't much people so you don't have to... More

The fort is still old but the gazebo and rest area look like they were recently renovated. Amazing view of Umatac bay and beach area (does the ocean ever make waves out here? it's always calm!) and the people are nice!

This is a must see! make a point to get here. The fort is mostly ruins but there is a very cool watchtower to visit, a lot of the fort wall and three very old bronze cannons. The fort strategically overlooks the bay (and that's why it was so important at the time) but the views you get today are... More

Took the kids here on a Sunday. Views are fantastic. Three old Spanish guns sit on the hilltop facing the ocean. There are a few other attractions as well. Off to the side of the fort is a trail through the grass that leads to the edge of a cliff. One issue - the bathroom was locked. Don't know why... More

If you are driving around the South of the island be sure to stop in here to check out the views. Some old ruins which make a back drop for photos.

I'm a sucker for old forts, and while this one is not large, there is a well-preserved turret and three replica cannons on the battery. The fort has great views over the bay (supposedly the bay that Magellan first sailed into) and the remains of several other fort ruins are visible on the opposite bluffs. This was apparently a major... More

The Umatac elders have said the view will stay as it is for the rest of time. At the center of the bay is an obelisk monument to Ferdinand Magellan’s landing in 1521, bearing the inscription, “Magellan landed here.” Most tourist go past without noticing. Fort Nuestra Senora de la Soledad is commonly referred to as Fort Soledad by the... More
