A great walk from Bar Harbor to Bar Island - only accessible during low tide! Loved walking over the exposed sandbar and viewing the tidal pools, cobbles and shells and then exploring wooded Bar Island. Definitely recommended!

The tide differences here are like no other I have ever seen. It is just amazing to see it happen before your eyes. We rented a house close enough to walk to the sandbar. We walked out on it almost every day of our vacation....More

While visiting Bar Harbor we saw Bar island from the top of Cadillac Mountain. In the afternoon we went downtown at low tide and walked all the way across the bar. Fun walking on the rocks, seeing all the sea shells and speaking with the...More

We really only had a few minutes to devote to the sand bar. It would have been fun to have had time to walk all the way across and visit the island as well. Certainly worth it to say you have stood on the "bar"...More

If you catch the tide out in Bar Harbor get over here for this unique experience. Pet friendly, you walk across a bar with water on both sides lapping at the shore. You wind up on a small island that is not difficult to get...More

Check the tides and know you have a few hours because you don't want to get stuck on the island and pay $150 for a water taxi, lol. Also it pays to give the sand a little time to dry, once the tide begins to...More

I tried to copy and paste a tide chart for you but it won't fit in this small space. You can google it though (or use another search engine). Just type in "Tide chart for Bar Harbor November 2016) and it will show you the... More
