The guides were very happy and friendly and made it exciting and interesting. Make sure you have the credit card with DL that you used to purchase tickets they are strict about that and check it from the ferry all the way thru the tour....More

Really informative. Exciting, great audio guide at no charge - really immersive. All the staff are enthused and loving their subject. Book early or be prepared to queue from very very early for on-the-day tickets. Highly recommended.

Loved the tour of the island and the history of Alcatraz and they attempt to escape. I would recommend this for the whole family

Well worth while but you must pre book. The audio tour is fantastic and really brings the prison experience to life. Also great views over SF and the bay. Well organised ferries over and back. Allow about 3 hours all in.

It was very cool to visit the iconic Alcatraz island. It is very well set up for tourists, but there is some uphill walking involves if you have mobility issues. The audio tour was very informative and they stagger tours so it's not too busy....More

The ferry out has wonderful views of the bay, and a snack bar on board. There's a free audio tour on the island as well to give an entertaining account of its history. A must do if you're in the area. It's usually booked months...More

Visiting Alcatraz Island was the highlight of our recent trip. It's my second time there (first in 2004), and I believe they've improved the tour with better details on attempted prison escapes, interviews with former convicts and jail guards etc. They succeed in immersing you...More

This was a great tour. The audio tour was very interesting and the island is very cool. The view of San Fransisco is great (even with the fog). It is definitely chilly on Alcatraz Island (even in August) so bring a jacket.

Very interesting, booked tickets in advance, collected on pier. Had allocated boat sailing so minimal wait. The island was fascinating and had all the history most people know about, plus more besides. Trip included audio tour which was informative. Worried about the wait for the...More

We were unable to go inside Alcatraz because the tickets were sold out but did the Bay Cruise around the Alcatraz island and the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. The Bay Cruise was nice and the narrator will tell you all about the Alcatraz and the...More

There is a cafe at Pier 33, a snack bar on the boat, and there is a cafe on Angel Island where you can purchase food and drinks. Since you're on the 9:30am departure, that means you're going to Alcatraz Island first. The... More
