The tour was alright and the guide was interesting. The audio tour was a bit confusing and people were walking all over the place. Then when we were done wuth the audio tour we found out that it was 70 minutes until the boat was leaving back. That was a long wait with our baby. No place to eat or... More

Loved this experience. It is not what I expected at all and they have done a great job on the audio guided tour. The freedom to walk around and experience the island was fantastic. I think a night tour will be my next adventure if I ever get back to SF.

Alcatraz Island is obviously a must. End of story. So much history to go and find and learn about. We did the night tour which I can thoroughly recommend as you get to hear about some of the darker stories and inmates on the island. You also get to see a mix of the Island in the Light and the... We booked a ticket from Big Bus Tours SF, and when we arrived at the ticket counter to exchange our voucher they were very nice! Do arrive a bit early to get seats on the top of the ferry, but be careful of your things. We took the last day tour so the island was pretty crowded, especially on the... More

Cellhouse tour was great. Love the birds and their noise from protecting their land. Had a great time.

We (a couple) really enjoyed our visit to Alcatraz. The audio tour was informative and engaging. It was very interesting to hear the story from actual ex-guards and ex-cons. Eerie to walk around and realise that all these men were locked up here. Especially the solitary confinement unit made our skin crawl. You cannot walk to the exercise yard through... More

While we were traveling the Pacific Coast Highway, one of our stops was San Francisco. We went to Alcatraz Island. We enjoyed the history of the island. Even though we enjoyed the Island, it was a one time only visit.

Alcatraz was pretty good! We went on the "night" tour which was all daylight. It ended as the sun was setting which was disappointing. But overall we had a pretty good time. One benefit from the night tour was that we got to see the west side of The Rock as we were arriving on the ferry. The person said... More

We booked our tickets on line a few months before travelling to San Francisco. It was a very smooth boat trip across to the island which took about 15 minutes. From start to finish it was an extremely interesting place to visit. Headsets guide you around and clearly explain all details. I would not hesitate to recommend this activity.
