This is a great street - wide with some greenery and lots to see and do on it. There is a cruise ship pier where cruise ships are often seen. There is the ferry to Alcatraz island from here. There is also an aquarium and...More

Walked along here after the Alcatraz tour to the Farmers Market and then into the city. The farmers market was great!

This is an easy walking area. But definitely not a short walk. Lots to do along every pier. Great views over the bay.

Not only was this my first trip to San Francisco, but anywhere west of Texas. And for me, I think the Embarcadero was my favorite part. Great scenery with a wide variety of shopping.

One of the best places in San Fran. Great architecture, nice and clean. Plenty of greenery. Great places for a bite to each and coffee and close to the Bay.

This is a long walkway along the Bay (around 3km, or 2 miles). We had dinner at the Waterbar which is along this walk (and highly recommended) and walked along the Embarcadero back up to the bottom of California Street to get the cable car...More

Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but
can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s
version of Wall Street. The rush of business people
make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of
life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the
narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of
historic and contemporary architecture, including the
iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours,

We didn't find it necessary to have a rental car in the city. Taxis are very inexpensive and lots of public transport options. With cable cars it can be a bit tricky driving if you're not used to it. We hired a car for trips... More
